EU Programme: Socrates II, Comenius 3: Comenius Networks.
Description: Comenius Networks aim to create links between projects carried out by school partnerships and those relating to the training of school education staff.
They will be based on subjects of common interest, so as to promote European co-operation and innovation in school education in various thematic areas. Each network will be (a) a platform to assist persons and institutions involved in Comenius to strengthen their European co-operation, so that it can last when EU support for their specific projects has ended; and (b) a forum to help identify and promote innovation and best practice in the relevant thematic area.
For Comenius 3 projects, the deadline for the submission of pre-proposals is the 1 November of each year and the deadline for the submission of full proposals the 1 March of the following year.
Who may apply?:
· Universities (or equivalent Higher Education Institutions)
· Teachers training institutions/centres
Network partnerships include at least one organisation from six countries participating in Socrates. Most will be taking part in projects, initiating new projects or will have completed Comenius 1 and/or 2 projects.

Relevance for Lesser-Used Language communities: No language criteria are laid down, so networks can be developed in a range of languages, including so-called “regional or minority” languages. International communication may make translation systems necessary to enable smaller language groups to use their languages.
