EU Programme: Socrates II, Erasmus: Higher education.
Description: The higher education sector has to adopt new methods and commit itself to provide for lifelong learning. Erasmus supports the European activities of higher education institutions and promotes the mobility and exchange of their teaching staff and students.
Who may apply?: Participants must fulfil the following conditions:
(a) Student enrolled in a formal programme of study at higher education level leading to a degree or a diploma in a participating country.
(b) Citizen of a participating country (or recognised refugee or stateless person).
(c) The first year of university studies completed.
EU Support: Student and teacher mobility.
Students and teachers (Erasmus 2), the organisation of student and teacher mobility (Erasmus 1), intensive programmes, joint development and implementation of curriculum, ECTS (European Credit Transfer System), thematic networks (Erasmus 3), and preparatory visits.
Relevance for Lesser-Used Language communities: Projects are not directly language-related, so there are no exclusionary clauses. Grants can cover the cost of language training for students in their host university, even when the language of the host university is a “minority” language.
