PROGRAMAS UE

EU Programme: Socrates II, Grundtvig: Adult education and other education pathways.

Description:
Grundtvig encompasses all levels and sectors of adult learning, both within formal and non-formal systems, and through autonomous learning.
Its operational aims are:

(a) Promoting the development of concrete products and valid results which will be of use in several participating European countries;
(b) promoting European co-operation between bodies providing adult education; contributing to improving the quality of adult teacher training; and (c) furthering the debate on lifelong learning and contributing to the dissemination of good practice.

Grundtvig 1 - Transnational cooperation projects: Institutions from different European countries work together to achieve concrete and innovative results/products with indisputable European value. The activities aim to advance the development of a European dimension in the field of adult education. Projects must involve eligible organisations from at least 3 participating countries.

Grundtvig 2 - Learning partnerships:
Frameworks for small-scale co-operation activities between organisations working in the field of adult learning. They focus more on process, and help smaller organisations that want to include European co-operation in their education activities. Projects must involve eligible organisations from at least 3 participating countries.

Grundtvig 3 - Mobility for training of educational staff: Grants so that educational staff working with adults can undertake training activities abroad, thereby broadening their understanding of lifelong learning in Europe and improving their professional skills.

Grundtvig 4 – Networks: They aim to enable actors involved in adult learning to co-operate on a more stable basis and to enhance their awareness of the European dimension of education. Thematic networks provide a forum for discussion on key issues, policy shaping and/or research in the area of adult learning. Project networks facilitate continuing contacts between institutions which have participated in projects, and dissemination of project results.
The minimum number of partners is six. At least one of the partners must be from an EU Member State.

Who may apply?:
All organisations working in the field of adult learning within the formal or the non-formal system or providing informal education.

Relevance for Lesser-Used Language communities: Projects are not directly language-related, so there are no exclusionary clauses. The participating countries in Socrates are the 25 Member States of the EU, plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey.
